Welcome to the Rocket Validator 2024 kickoff, where we’ll highlight some of the new features and enhancements we released during this year.
This has been an amazing year and together we’ve validated more than 10 million web pages, found more than 328 million HTML issues, and more than 78 million accessibility issues!
From Dark Mode and revamped interface to the release of the API and a new Agency plan, we hope we’ve continued making your site validation for large sites even easier.
Before we dig into the retrospective, let me add we have a special end-of-year gift for you. Stay with us to get an important discount for 2025! More at the bottom of this post.
But first, let’s see what we released in 2024…
Dark Mode and Revamped Interface
We started 2024 with a revamped interface, which included a responsive side menu and better use of available screen space. The side menu and contextual shortcuts make it easier to jump between sections and features.
On top of that, we added a Dark Mode to the interface, to help you reduce eye strain and improve readability when working late or in low light conditions.
API V1
2024 saw the release of the Rocket Validator API V1, which gives you programmatic access to your site validation reports and provides a way to automate your site validation process and integrate the results into your existing workflows.
The possibilities are endless, here are some ideas from our customers:
- Creating a custom dashboard that shows the status of websites developed by an agency.
- Integrating with a ticketing system so that when an issue is detected, a ticket is automatically opened for the team that should fix it.
- Exporting reports to other formats: CSV, PDF…
- Building your own white-label validation service, presenting the report data under your own branding.
Official WordPress Plugin
Another example of how the API has been used is the official RV WordPress plugin, which allows you to integrate the latest validation results for your site into your WordPress dashboard.
This WP plugin was written in the context of the WordPress Accessibility 2024, that we proudly sponsored.
Raw Results from Axe Core and W3C Validator Nu
An advanced use case for the API is to get the raw results from the Axe Core and W3C Validator Nu checks, via the new Raw Checks API Endpoint.
A Raw Check contains the raw output of a web page check, unprocessed, as returned by the Axe Core checker or the W3C HTML validator. This allows you to get all the information from the checks, so you can process it in your own way.
Filtering Stats by User
The Stats section, which shows daily snapshots for the validated domains, has been improved to allow filtering by user.
Previously, for users with multiple guest accounts, stats showed the sum of the stats for the whole team. You can now use the new filters to view either your own stats, the stats of a specific guest or combination of guests, or the whole team (you and all your guest accounts).
Accessibility and HTML validators upgraded
The Accessibility validation server on Rocket Validator has been upgraded to the latest versions of Axe Core.
2024 saw the release of two main versions of the popular accessibility checker maintained by Deque, which improve color contrast checks, add a new rule for the summary element and fix some bugs from previous versions.
The HTML validation server has been kept up to date with the releases of W3C Validator Nu.
Experimenting with Artificial Intelligence
We’re exploring the use of Generative AI to help you fix validation issues in your site.
Holly AI is your intelligent companion for web accessibility, that provides a conversational interface to help you fix validation issues in your site.
This conversational interface lets you ask questions about accessibility and HTML issues in plan English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian or German. You can provide a code snippet with the issue and Holly will help you understand and suggest a fix.
Holly AI is still an experimental feature, available only to Agency and Enterprise customers.
New Agency Plan
We’ve also launched new Agency Plans. These plans have been designed with web agencies and companies in mind and include all features, up to 100K checks per month and 10 guest accounts to set up your validation team.
